Our Story

how it all began…

In December of 2003, Finney’s Chocolate Shoppe was opened by Bill and Cheryl (Finney) Kent. Bill had lost his job due to business downsizing and as a means for family income, they opened the chocolate shoppe at their home on Route 99 outside of Cambridge Springs, PA. The Kent’s converted their family garage into a state inspected and functional kitchen and show room. Bill and Cheryl worked hard to create recipes and establish a name for Finney’s Chocolate. You may remember getting chocolate each fall at Finney’s Pumpkin Farm. As their business grew, they quickly realized they needed more space. They debated on adding onto their garage or moving the business to a larger location. They ultimately decided to sell the business and retire to North Carolina. Cherly had numerous employees, including Debbie Shearer.

Debbie Shearer bought Finney’s Chocolate Shoppe in 2012 and moved it to 27 South Main Street in the town of Cambridge Springs. She continued the same recipes. After a few years, Debbie was facing 2 knee replacements and decided to sell the business to focus on recovering from the procedures. She met Barb Beck at the Riverside Craft Show and approached her after seeing Barb’s Gourmet Apples and asked her if she would be interested in Finney’s Chocolate Shoppe.

In 2017, Matt and Barb Beck became the 3rd owners of Finney's Chocolate Shoppe. They moved the shoppe to its current location, 116 Spring Street in Cambridge Springs. At the end of 2020, Matt had purchased Scott’s Heating and Air Conditioning and as a family, decided running 2 businesses was going to be too much.

On March 10th, 2021, Kameron and Tori Willis became the 4th owners of Finney’s Chocolate Shoppe. We are pleased to say we still use the original recipes that Bill and Cheryl created 20 years ago!

They came for the music, history and water but stayed for the chocolate.
